Care for vulnerable older people

On 5 July, Jeremy Hunt, Secretary of State for Health, launched a period of engagement on government plans to improve care for vulnerable older people. These include focusing on providing a more integrated out-of-hospital service to address all of a person’s needs. They also propose a stronger role for general practice, building on its existing strengths and the values of the family doctor, with new and effective ways to provide improved access and support for people to manage their own care, and proactive case management for the most vulnerable elderly people. The proposals can be found online here where people are encouraged to express their views. The DH are also holding two events to meet face-to-face with people and hear their views on the proposals. The events will take place in Manchester and London on 5th and 11th September 2013 respectively. To register your attendance for the events, click here for Manchester and here for London.
