What is being done?
An ‘Hour to Remember’ dementia awareness training programme is being delivered in Yeovil District Hospital, enabling staff, volunteers and carers to become engaged in a wide range of dementia initiatives.
Over 1,100 staff attended the Hour to Remember Programme, which has also been implemented in other organisations in the Region.
What is new and different?
The Trust has taken numerous subjects and applied “An Hour to…” approach, which enables a large group of trainers to increase awareness and understanding of topics.
What difference this seems to be making
- Awareness with regard to dementia within the Trust is high on the agenda.
- The sessions themselves were very well attended highlighting that staff can be affected by dementia both at work and at home.
- Feedback from these sessions has been incredibly positive with more staff wishing to become Dementia Champions.
Plans for taking the project forward
To run further sessions as and when required.
