Severn Deanery has recruited five GP Dementia Fellows to work with local practices to develop understanding about, treatment and care for people living with dementia.
General Practitioner Dementia Fellowship posts are designed to offer local GPs the opportunity to develop leadership and educational skills within the context of the NHS and specifically with regards to the implementation of the National Dementia Strategy. Such skills will help equip them for future roles with implementing educational and learning agendas within localities, primary care trusts, and the NHS as a whole.
The Fellows work with the Severn Deanery School of Primary Care and local Education Provider Organisations, to conceive and develop a programme to further address learning needs of local Primary Health Care Teams with relation to implementing the National Dementia Strategy.
