CQC to scan Twitter for care complaints

A recent article in the Health Service Journal reveals that the Care Quality Commission is working on an IT system to monitor social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter for complaints about care homes and healthcare providers.

The CQC expects the system to produce intelligence based on the comments left with local media sites, blogs and social networking sites.

Since October, the CQC has been responsible for assuring the quality of 24,700 social care facilities and services. The system will bolster the CQC’s monitoring capability.
