Make early diagnosis a priority for dementia

An overwhelming number of people believe that the NHS needs to make early diagnosis a priority for dementia (90%), hearing (79%) and sight loss (88%) according to a YouGov poll released 16 September 2010.

The survey was commissioned by Alzheimer’s Society, RNID and the Eye Health Alliance.

Key findings include:

  • 90% people believe that the NHS needs to make an early diagnosis a priority for dementia
  • 69% believe an early diagnosis of dementia can help people manage the symptoms of the condition
  • 66% believe an early diagnosis of dementia can help people access the right care and support early
