Singing for the Brain

Singing for the Brain

The Alzheimer’s Society’s Singing for the Brain service has won £49,000 from the Big Lottery People’s Millions to develop more singing groups across Devon and Cornwall. The Alzheimer’s Society would like to thank everyone for their votes and messages of support.

Singing for the brain is a unique service provided by Alzheimer’s Society which uses singing to bring people together in a friendly and stimulating environment. It helps reduce social isolation and promotes well-being for people living with dementia and their carers.

Devon and Cornwall are rural communities with a high incidence of dementia with limited support networks and so these groups are in a great deal of demand. The Alzheimer’s Society is delighted to have the opportunity to expand their services within the region and reach more people with Alzheimer’s and their carers.

    Hi
I am a musician with 20 years instrumental teaching and singing experience.

I have a deep love of and interest in Dementia and was at one time a social work assistant for the elderly mentally ill.
currently I am a volunteer mental health/learning disabilities chaplain in Cornwall.

I am setting a business focusing of therapeutic music and am interested in pursuing work with singing, instruments, actions, and those with dementia, additionally carers. the other side of my business – Key Changes – is embodied mindful music for brain change to combat anxiety.

i am wondering if we could get together in any way?

    yours
